Two-Factor Authentication for Discord

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a valid method to help further ensure integrity and enhance account security.

The following instructions detail activation and utilization of 2FA for Discord.

Download and install Google Authenticator.

Login to Discord / Open Discord.

Select the gear icon near the lower left-hand corner of the display.

Select “Enable Two-Factor Auth” in “MY ACCOUNT” under “USER SETTINGS” along the upper left-hand side of the display.

Open Google Authenticator.

Select “BEGIN SETUP” or “+” then select “Scan barcode”.

Scan the QR code displayed in Discord using Google Authenticator – Do this on multiple devices (mobile phones, tablets, etc) if possible to help ensure consistent access.

Enter the six-digit code and select “Activate”.

The following message should now be displayed followed by single-use backup codes along with an explanation for their use:

Note: An additional prompt for the six-digit code from Google Authenticator will follow the standard prompt for the e-mail address and password for future logins to Discord.
